Friday Feathers
After a long hot day slaving over a scorched landscape in search of worms, Robby stripped down to his skivvies, ran down the yard and dove into the pool.
Ahhhhh. This is living... the good life.
Not long after, one of the neighbors interrupted the zen state of Robby's mind and began blabbing about the lack of wormage and the heat. For a minute or two, Robby managed to tune out his neighbor until he heard the splash of water behind him.
uh oh.
Robby was having none of it and pummeled his neighbor until the unwelcome guest departed. GET OUT! Robby screamed as his neighbor struggled to leave.

Crazy Eights
For those not paying attention, Tomorrow's date is August 8, 2008 or 08-08-08 (oh-eight, oh-eight, oh-eight.) And since I won't be here tomorrow to post Friday Feathers (I caved, even though I said I wouldn't post it), I'm posting it today with the date and time of 08-08-08 at 08:08:08.

Today's sighting...
... while on my way home. Up in the sky, caught in a slight breeze, an object that at first glance appeared to be a black plastic shopping bag. I stopped and watched as the wind flipped it up to the right, then down to the left, then up again. As it floated down when the wind subsided, I got a better look at the object: a woman's black sports bra.
Seriously.

It's August!
Where did the time go? Just the other day it was the Fourth of July and boom! Here it is, August. We've had the August temperatures in NYC -- hot and humid and rain every once in a while. The air conditioners are on 24/7. Yeah it's hot, though I'll venture to guess it's hotter elsewhere. Anyway...
In my rush to head out on Thursday evening for the weekend I completely forgot about the Friday Feathers entry for last week. Sorry about that. I think the feathers will be every-so-often from now on or at least until I've got enough photos to post. In searching for a new photo last week, I found myself doing that thing I do with my photos, and that is the 'ol ho-hum. I've seen my photos so many times I get sick of them. Meanwhile no one else has seen them. Anyhoo, I want to try and get back to writing here -- even if it's just snippets of sillyness, I want to do it again.
In other news, my garden is flourishing though the eggplant is fighting it every step of the way. Sure it's got big green leaves but that's about it. Perhaps eggplant takes a lot longer to grow than the squash and peppers? I don't know. Oh and there are a gazillion cherry tomatoes! I can't believe how many there are! The larger tomatoes are ripening too, but here and there, and that concludes the garden update.
Meanwhile, my laptop is slowly expanding by the nanosecond because that side project isn't finished yet and I can't take the damn thing to get it fixed (the laptop, that is.) The " u " key is sticking and that's a bad sign. So that means files aren't backed up, and tons of photos are just sitting there, waiting for me to dump them on disk or elsewhere. I'm thinking that I can use my iPod to dump files on... but not sure how to do that since I have an iPod Touch also, and don't want to screw up my iTunes. Surely there's an easy way to dump files onto the iPod without messing up iTunes... isn't there?
So Happy August, and you know what that means... hot, steamy nights. ;-)
