2008 to Arrive Via Subway

A 500 pound, 7-foot-tall numeral 8 will be transported by subway from a factory in the Bronx to New York City's Times Square. The numeral completes the 2008 sign that heralds the new year with the dropping of the crystal ball. The 8 sign will ride on the 6 train and then transfer to the N and R line to Times Square.

The gigantic New Year's Eve numerals will be on display until Dec. 19 at the Times Square information center.
