Friday Feathers

The Northern Mockingbird is very animated and performs an elaborate mating dance. Facing each other with heads and tails erect, pairs run toward each other, flashing white wing patches, and then retreat to cover nearby.

Sits for long periods of time on top of a shrub, and imitates other birds (vocal mimicry), hence the common name. Young males often sing at night. Often unafraid of people, allowing for close observation.

amazing. the picture, that is. i love the way that you either knew/learn about the birds that you photograph and then give us all a brief explanation. another learning curve :)

Q has an uber-camera yet doesn't try using it. i wonder if he'll notice it missing .....

btw, how do you use a camera ? i mean, a good one ? that would help me. i suppose.

Thanks Zoe! I'm glad you like the photo and descriptions.

As for how to use a good camera, I'm still in the process of figuring that out. :-)

just remember that the eye is more important than the equipment .. especially with photoshop around ;)
