When I move around things on the stylesheet or other templates, I copy and paste the whole page as "was" or any changes in an e-mail to myself first. I end up with dozens of e-mails, but at least I have the originals to go back to. One time, a major mess was fixed because I'd noticed I hadn't closed the tags on a line!

Susan - Before I make changes, I always save a copy of the old index and stylesheet just in case disaster strikes. However, what I copy/pasted wasn't supposed to go in here, and I hadn't saved a copy of what was then current. I don't mind that I made the mistake; it made me realize how much I disliked the columns and trying to make it all work.
