Get Your Stupidity and Insensitivity Here

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon will hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of 9/11, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an unusual announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing yesterday.

I'll be so glad when this group is no longer in the White House...

Al has quite the way with words, eh?

Mr. tan laughs so hard! You have to register to show patriotism? Bah ha ha ha. Mr. tan laugh so hard with American people having to pay to sit on inauguration parade route (freedom in politics?) - but this is so much better. "Register to march in a freedom parade?" Sounds like another military intelligence oxymoron? Or is it genius? Hmm.

Mr. Tan thinks they are just getting an estimate on how many people they will have to hire and paper the crowd to get the parks service to report "89,304,000 people were marching through the mall!" Imagine getting a few billion appropriated from congress to have one big ole block party.

Mr. tan thinks about this - good way to make lots of money on a weekend. Sell popcorn and rent out costumed marchers! Damn, that Rummy is genius.

Mr. tan feels terrible that Americans that know what freedom is worth have to suffer. Thank you nice men and women potentially giving their lives - all so people here get to register to march.

(Why did Mr. tan get philosophical today - no green tea for breakfast?)

well, that should be interesting - it may even be worth watching for the comedy value.

Gee, and I had plans on that day. How stupid can they really, really be? Please tell me that they'll come out tomorrow and say it was all a mistake.

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if they snapped out of it.

I like the new look!

Wow, it sure is refreshing (again) to have people who weren't there telling those who were - at the Pentagon on 9/11 - how they should commemorate the day and the memory of those who died.

New Yorkers especially should understand what I'm talking about.

As for registering, gee, what a concept, eh? Like it hasn't been that way for every freakin' event for, say, the last thirty years? Try marching in your hometown parade and what do you think would happen? Why, they'd ask you to register in advance! The faux irony doesn't play well, especially when it's just an excuse to bash an administration you don't like. Lord knows there are plenty of valid reasons to razz 'em, but this kind of whining is just pitiful.

To all,
Cindy and I have exchanged email over my comment, and I'd like to apologize for automatically assuming that your critisism was mere "Bush bashing". I made a blanket statement including all of you. That was wrong and I apologize.

I do believe that at least some of this was indeed "Bush bashing", and I also stand by the words I wrote, although the tone should have been different.

Mr Tan, in particular I take offense to you referring to this event as a "block party". I for one see nothing wrong with celebrating liberty and freedom on this day. I'm sure there will be solemn words and ceremony in rememberance as well, but for you to mock their method because you don't agree with it is contemptable.
