Bloggity Goodness
Now there's a perfectly dorky title for this entry. Shoot. I didn't know what else to call it. I'm not very good when it comes to thinking up titles for my brain dust. Sue me.
He never responded to my email so now I'm going to make him pay for it. A few weeks ago I actually spoke to my favorite mystery man Al of Fulton Chain on the telephone. Yes indeedy, we conversed, in real time, for the first time in, oh, how many years is it now Al? The THINGS we talked about - oh my! (Get your brains out of the gutter, y'all. It's not what you think.) Whodathunkit that we'd finally talk after all this time -- not me. I guess I managed to catch the ever-elusive one in a weak moment. It was cool though. Much better than leaving comments and typing emails that maybe get a response a few months after I send them. I'll never know how Mary (Al's significant other) puts up with him, but bless her. Al says she reads my blog, and if she does, I wish she'd leave a comment or three. Al, Mary should have a blog also... (I heard your response-- WHY!?) because she should... that's why! Unless, of course, she's just smarter than both of us and couldn't be bothered, which could very well be the case.
In other bloggers-I-know news, the Best European Blogger 2005 left me voice mail this past week. Trust me when I say she didn't sound like her usual self, but it's good that she's writing on her blog again. Hope things have gotten better for you Petunia. I'll check up on you via voice soon!
Kat of Kat's Stuff telephoned last night, thinking she'd gotten me up and out of bed (I wasn't asleep just yet -- but wide awake.) We have that one-hour time difference thing (Houston - NYC) that we both tend to forget. Anyway, we didn't speak until this morning but she let me know that she was alive and well and kickin', busy with packing up the house, visitors and parties, and soon to be in DMV hell (again.) Hopefully this time around the line at the DMV won't be too bad! And keep your fingers crossed that she ends up moving to Virginia and NOT to North Carolina.
Saving the best surprise for last, I'll be 20 pounds heavier soon thanks to Ted @ Rocket Jones who sent me a loaf of his homemade cinnamon bread. Evidently I was the 100K visitor to his blog and I won a loaf of homemade bread. (Of course each time he wrote about his homemade bread I'd leave an inordinate amount of drool in his comments.) The very fresh loaf arrived this morning from Virginia, and I must say that you'll be referring to me as porky pig pretty soon, unless I hand out slices of the delectably delicious bread to friends and family. Thanks again Ted! :-)
Now if Kat sent me some of her awesome home cooking from Texas, well hey. I'd just be in hog heaven, wouldn't I.
Cindy

Well, whether Kat ends up in Virginny or North Caroline, we'll jes' all hafta git together sometime, y'hear?
Glad the bread showed up in good shape. They wanted $25 to overnight it, and I almost emailed you my credit card number and told you to buy a loaf at the best bakery you know. ;)

When I get all moved in you'll have to come to the house and eat dinner. I hope you like possum.
Just kidding about the possum.
I was at the DMV from 5:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Youngest daughter is now a licensed driver so Houston, be afraid.

Cinnamon bread. Yum yum!
I used to be able to buy it over here in Blighty. It was a sure fave of mine.
Sadly, I heven't seen it for years.
Now I'm drooling. How evil of you to mention such things and bring back the memory.

Home made bread rocks! If you're interested I could also send you a possum - although he'll be an Aussie ringtail possum. He's sleeping peacefully not eight feet away from me as I write. At least I think he's a he? I've not really checked.
I also wanted to say how much I enjoy listening to your podcasts - so much so that I'm thinking of gearing up with a friend to produce one ourselves. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cameron from downunder.

Cameron - welcome! Thanks but no thanks on the possum. In NYC there are rats the size of possum, and well, yuk. Thanks also for your nice comment about the podcast. We're due to record another one soon, so stay tuned, and do let me know when you've got yours up and running!
Piggy & Tazzy - sorry to make you drool, but the bread is damned tasty... you know what they say: a minute on the lips, forever on the hips.
Kat - as I stated to Cameron, you can keep your possum. I'll take some fried chicken though :-)
Ted - I can imagine we'd get into all sorts of trouble if we get together with Kat. Of course I mean that in a good way!

I've always wanted to try possum. There's a place in Riverview, MI, that prepares it.
