Points Elsewhere

It's been very busy lately and this past week was no different, but it included great things like meeting a new friend for a midtown breakfast. I was horrified a day or two later when I said to this same person, (in the context of accessing an mp3 file on their blog,) "I suck your bandwidth." I can't believe I said that.

Then there were the not-so-good things occuring around my neck o' the island I live on. Things like the sudden landslide/collapse of a retaining wall on the Henry Hudson Parkway and yesterday a fire right down the block from where I live. So... outside of that news, let's change the subject to something else. It's been awhile since I've mentioned some of the other folks who stop by here and I think now is as good a time as any. Here's a quickie roundup of what's going on elsewhere (since I love and am much more comfortable with talking about anyone but myself.)

Zoe @ My Boyfriend is a Twat writes that she's closing shop, but I know that she's just going through a difficult time right now. I suspect (okay, I hope) that this is a temporary thing and she'll end up leaping over the hurdle she is currently experiencing. She is one very talented and funny blog writer that I don't want to see disappear.

Al, my tech guru over at Fulton Chain shocked the daylights out of me today. It all had something to do with masturbation. (Note to y'all: no, it didn't. It just reads well, doesn't it. Got your attention, didn't I.) Don't miss Al's blog entry: Read Any Good Books Lately? I wish he'd write more. Really.

Kat, Southern belle at Kat's Stuff is busy packing up her home as she and the hubby and family are preparing for their move closer to me (final destination still up in the air?) Yay for me! You know it's all about me, of course.

Note to Oz over at G'day Mate... we're *almost* coming up on one year since we met in person here in NYC, but I've been following your blog and your comment spam nightmare. Yes I am truly guilty in that I've not been a good friend and have been remiss in leaving comments, but I'll have to try harder... or something. I'm still here, still reading your blog but just quiet I guess. Sorry!

A recommended must-read: I loved this recent blog post by Dave Pollard @ How to Save the World: The Whisper Campaign: Psst, You're Amazing (Pass It On). Read it. Do it. It's a great feeling!

One of my all-time favorite writers Nick @ taliesin's log recently shared this entry, secret heartbeats, that just left me unable to say anything more than "wow." I tend not to write about Nick simply because we seem to lock horns on occasion and that bothers me more than I care to admit. Regardless, he knows I'm a big fan of his, whether he's attacking a blog post or quote of mine... or not. Nick has this unbelievable ability to engage me and piss me off at the same time. I think it's love but GU (the informed know what the initials represent. If you don't know, ask me.) What do you think?

Okay that's enough for now. Of course there is more to add to this, but I've since moved on to food for thought. Soon it will be time for fine dining... and with that I bid you adieu. Until next time!

Cindy

Food for thought: a bag of tortillas and a tub of Sainsburys own-brand salsa. Works every time. Not much help to you, however, since I can't imagine Sainsburys having a store in NYC.

Wow, natural disasters abound in your neck of the woods!

I haven't been doing any good blogging myself lately either. I'm probably going to take next week completely off because I'll be on vacation (although not going anywhere).

The location is still up in the air but as soon as I know, you'll know. I promise.

Thanks for the mention and the thoughts. I am trying to write as frequently as I used to but the days seem to be getting shorter and the readers I get seem to like a different kind of article. I was trying to keep up a steady stream of "local news from a warped perspective" type articles but it attracted zilch in the way of feedback. The only stuff I get email about is the jokes and the geek stuff so I may concentrate mainly on those types of things in the future.
