Take the last train to...
Updated April 11:
Train photos are now up here.
A few weeks ago I travelled to Pennsylvania to dust my brain (why else would I go?) Seems that each time I head out to PA, I find yet another new place just oozing with photo opportunities. This latest trip had me in Scranton, where I tripped upon the the Steamtown National Historic Site, the only national park dedicated to the history of steam locomotion.
This historical site visit wasn't planned; the street signs leading to it simply came into view while driving. Why not, I thought to myself. The first thing you see upon entering this park is this amazing display - all these old locomotives just sitting there on rusted railroad tracks. With the car parked and camera in hand, I set off to explore all of them. ((Photos tk over in my photo gallery.)
Of course I had to board these old relics and further my exploration. Yes, I had to have my picture taken -- not once, but many times, just because the first one is always guaranteed to be a dorker and truth be told, I'm a ham. After hanging on and off one of the locos (have you made the connection yet?) and posing much longer than I had energy for (take the DAMN picture, will you?!?) only one of the photos ended up a keeper (see below.)
The J Crew men's oversized sweater gave me linebacker proportions, the angle of the photo cuts my height and the length of my legs, and hey, don't ya just love the shoulder bag. About the only thing that works well here are my hiking boots and my Gucci prescription sunglasses. You can never accuse me of being vain, that's for sure. ;-) Now you certainly didn't think this post was going to be about trains, did you?

Prescription Gucci?
My. Oh my.
And I'd have posed in front of the train, pretending to be one of those people in those old black and white movies, tied to the track.
Knowing my luck though, the thing would slip its mooring (or whatever its called) and chop my head off while I was posing.

Nice picture, what's up with those enormous shoulders? I'm kidding, just kidding, you look fantastic!

P&T:
Yes, prescription Gucci. Though it's sounds extravagant it's really not. The price was reasonable for script sunglasses and I actually bought them not based on brand but rather the style.
LUV the imagery of you (two) being tied to the track - funny, I never thought of it at the time. That would've been a hoot!

Paul -
I know. Isn't it horrible, those huge shoulders? I actually do have broad shoulders,
having spent my formative years as a competitive swimmer. That's my excuse
for the shoulders. Now the rest of the body... well, no one knows what lurks beneath
that sweater. And better for them that they don't!

Joost - not likely, though one could say parts of my life have been 'stunt-like.' :-)

You beg questions, Cyndy.
Are the formative years finished?
And where d'you hide the "stunt-like" pix?
p.s. Good news, the Firefox war won, I can now read people while pretending to be deep in Africa. Even you.

I love the shot...I think my first impulse would have been to re-create Jon Voight's pose from "Runaway Train"...

Nice shot - another place to try and find time to visit methinks! Doubt I'd get the photo opportunity though!

I think you don't ook a day older than 35:-)
Stronger, age doesn't matter as far as you are concerned.

Now having had the pleasure of meeting the lady in person, I have to say her shoulders are not broad and she is only 21...
Hey Cindy - just watch that ankle on the train... I twisted mine getting off a loco and you don't want to do yours in again :-)
