Houston is Fat and Seattle is Fit

The February issue of Men's Fitness magazine has proclaimed Seattle the fittest city. In its nonscientific Seventh Annual Fattest and Fittest Cities Report, the magazine compares 50 cities by weighing 14 factors, including fast food restaurants per capita, TV watching, air quality, and parks. In Seattle, for example, sporting goods stores and gyms outnumber fast food joints -- a key statistic. - CNN

Houston was named the fattest city for the fourth time in five years, followed by Philadelphia, Detroit, Memphis and Chicago. By the way, New York (number 8) was proclaimed a porky pig as well, even though the state isn't reflected in the "Top Five" list below.

Lovely. I do think the formula for calculating this is a little stupid, though. How many fast food restaurants determines who is the fattest? Houston is a HUGE city with horrid traffic problems and no good public transportation so a lot of people eat on the run, hence all the fast food.

While we do have plenty of fat asses I see plenty of folks who are stick thin, so nuts to this study.

Wow, I gain a few pounds and suddenly I live in one of the fattest cities. Did they ever think it's because it's so damn cold here? Houston has no excuse though, regardless what Kat says. ;p!
