Hot and Steamy
Drip, Drip, Drip
The nose is running, the perspiration is guaranteed to seep out in buckets and the clothing will be wet. The temperature here in NYC is 73 degrees right now, the high today will be 81. Humidity is at 100 percent, it's been raining on and off and a steady stream of building soot has been slithering down. The pollen count is very high.
This combo-platter of rain, humidity and high pollen count spells discomfort with a capital "D" -- it's guaranteed to make your clothing stick to your body in ways you couldn't even imagine. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, bingo! Multiply that feeling by a thousand and that's what it feels like in the subway station (nevermind the odor, which I'll leave up to your imagination.)
It's a great day to remain indoors and in a refreshingly chilled air conditioned room. Otherwise, oh joy, oh discomfort, oh... sheesh.

Nah. While in Austin last month the temperature there was godawful, but evenings were delightfully cool. Here, it doesn't let up.

you CAN'T look forward to the winter. just get yourself an olympic-size swimming pool and you'll be happy. i'm sure it'll fit into your appartment.

Here's another vote for winter - apart from the fact that I hate the heat, winter clothes (suede boots, long skirts etc.) are much nicer than summer fripperie.
Also, re the previous post, would drunk blogging then be drogging? Eeeeuw!

Al - who said anything about hating America? I wrote that I was looking forward to winter ONLY on that day because it was so unbelievably uncomfortable and hot. You know I freeze easily :-)
Pogo - yes, hay fever in September is horrible.
Zoe - did you get your pool yet?
Paul - winters in your neck of the woods are pure hell, I'm sure.
Daisy - I prefer cooler temperatures but not freezing... as for drogging, that's funny... :-)
