About the Blog

Hi There! Thanks for stopping by!

Before we begin the tour... a note to those of you who arrived here via Google. You will NOT find detailed information here about the following top 3 searches that lead some folks here:
- your brain
- dusting (whether that's cleaning or otherwise)
- how to distress denim

What does Dusting My Brain mean? It's an expression and nothing more.

This is not a topical weblog nor is it a business blog. It is a personal weblog whereby I wax poetic from time to time about things that interest me. It serves as a warehouse for whatever the flavor of the moment is in my brain, and is a place where I can deposit that which is dusted from said brain, as well as any photographs I have taken that I might want to post and share.

I've been writing on the Web since 1993 and have documented the experience via the pages you'll find within this space. A visit to additional "About" pages will take you to other tales that provide more information than you probably want, but it's there if you want it. See the sidebar for the other areas of the "About" section.

Meanwhile back at the funny farm, the blogging part of my Web experience began in April of 2003, after a computer scientist friend of mine swooped down from on high and sprinkled me with CMS -- content management system software. This helped to morph the single Web page I had been maintaining for a few years into a once again, full-blown site, only this time around it was called a weblog. I had a full-blown personal web SITE of my own for many years, and from around year 2000 on whittled it down as it became too cumbersome to maintain. I recently found the original Web site files I'd created that date back to 1993. I'm still debating whether or not to slap the files up here and include them in my archives. We'll see what happens with that.

Links, Feeds, Etc.
The links I include on my blog are not a representation of all the blogs I read, and I read many of them. They are, however, of particular interest to me, and that's why the links are there. If I decide to take the links out due to sudden design dysfunction, don't be offended. I'm still reading you, no matter what. It's also possible that I'm reading you through RSS (really simple syndication) via an aggregator. Right now the aggregator I use follows almost 100 blogs... and I always find more places to add to the list.

Comments
Feel free to post a comment when the comments function is enabled. If the comment is inapppropriate or off-topic it will be deleted. Occasionally I make exception to that rule, but it's rare.

Trackbacks are on Again
I've turned the trackback widget back on and will see how that goes. The minute I encounter spamalot via trackback is the minute I shut it off... again.

Photographs
All photographs appearing on this blog are mine unless otherwise noted. I have a photo gallery where most of my photographs reside. Each photograph on the photoblog is under a Creative Commons License. This license is explained as follows:

You are free:
- to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work under the following conditions:
Attribution.
You must give the original author credit.
Noncommercial.
You may not use this work for commercial purposes.
No Derivative Works.
You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work. For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of this work. Any of these conditions can be waived if you get permission from the author. squipper [at] gmail [dot] com.

Please refrain from sucking the bandwidth of this blog by hotlinking to the images. This is totally uncool and if you do it and I find it in my raw logs, the photo will be removed from the server and quite possibly replaced with a graphic that you don't want on your site. Instead, if you find a photo you like, download it to your desktop and then put it on your own server. Keep in mind that attribution is key here, so you'll need to provide a photo credit if you use the photograph. You can email me squipper [at] gmail [dot] com.

About My Nickname
Some of you are curious about my nickname of "Squipper." Well it's not all that sexy and glamorous (far from it) and nothing more than a nickname given to me by a former colleague. It was created by combining an old email address of mine with my last name and thus regurgitated as "Squipper." There ya have it. Mystery solved.
